Kim Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in Liverpool, England. Her birth
name is Clare Woodgate.
Before her first birthday, Kim emigrated to Canada with her parents, and she was
raised on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia.
At the age of 11, Kim returned to England and studied at the London Academy of
Music and Dramatic Art. Graduating from the London Academy, she moved to New
York City at the age of 16 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
After Kim's graduation, film director Otto Preminger signed her to a 5 year film
contract. A year later, Universal Studios bought out that contract and Kim
became one of the last participants of the Universal Contract Player System.
While under contract at Universal, Kim guest starred in numerous television
series, which eventually led to starring roles opposite Jack Lemmon in his
Academy Award nominated performance in "Tribute" (1980) and her Lead Actress
Genie nomination and the Canadian Oscars for her performance in "Ticket to
Heaven" (1981).
Kim has starred in a host of blockbuster films, including "Porky's" (1982),
"Police Academy" (1984), "Big Trouble in Little China" (1986), "Mannequin"
(1987), "Masquerade" (1988), "Bonfire Of the Vanities" (1990) and "Star Trek VI:
The Undiscovered Country (1991). Her performance as Jamie in "Live Nude Girls"
(1995) earned her rave reviews at numerous Film Festivals.
Kim capitalized on her role as a femme fatale on "Sex and the City" when she was
hired by Pepsi as their 2000/2001 television campaign spokesperson, appearing in
TV spots promoting their Pepsi One product.
Outside of films Kim Cattrall is passionate about short-story writing and she is
an advocate for senior citizens.
